Procedure of Sheet Piling Work at Site This procedure describes the steps to be taken and sequence of events necessary to enable satisfactory completion of each activity. Likewise, to ensure that Sheet Piling Work is conducted in accordance with good working practices and work is carried out in accordance with the relevant project specifications 1. Ensure that all IFC and reference drawings have been issued to responsible personnel handling the work. Ensure Sheet Piling works shall be conducted in accordance with the latest revision of the IFC drawings that distributed in controlled manner. Ensure work approval from OWNER is available prior to start the piling work. Should the piling work will affect other EPC’s work (i.e. Cooling water lines), GENCON shall obtained approval from OWNER prior to starting the work. 2. Project END document control section provides all relevant personnel approved procedures associated with Sheet Piling works in control manner. 3. The Civil Supervisor / Safety Officer shall confirm and check the following items prior to the commencement of sheet piling works: a. Water table elevation. b. Soil investigation report of the area is available. c. Location and nature of any underground services in the area should be checked and precisely located. d. Prior to commencement of piling work a permit shall be secured from the Permit Controlling Department. e. Check the ground upon driving machine will stand should be firmed, level and compacted. f. Check the work area stability of adjacent structures, sources of vibration (e.g. highway, traffic, machinery) and underground obstruction. g. Workmen should stand clear of the piling operation while driving is in progress. 4. The Surveyor section shall set out structures to be installed with pile based on the issued construction drawings. 5. The Engineering Section shall prepare design computations based on the Structures IFC drawings, the required depth of excavation, the soil investigation report to determine the size and depth of the pile. 6. The Civil section shall ensure that piling be undertaking only by competent supervisor and with crew experienced in this work. The crew handling piles or working on piling operation should always wear the prescribed personal safety equipment. 7. The Safety officer shall ensure that work is performed according to the instructions and precautions specified in the work permit. Ensure that barricades/ steel barriers/ tapes are erected where required and safety equipment is readily available at the work areas. 8. The Civil Supervisor shall submit request for inspection (RFI) to site QC section. 9. Project QC Inspector shall conduct inspection and verify compliance to project drawings, plans and specification as well as approved ITP. 10. The QC Inspector shall return RFI to Civil Operation Supervisor indicating results of inspections. When and how to Conduct Construction Meetings? The information for arranging, and conducting effective formal meetings and procedures for formal/informal meetings between the Main Contractor and the Subcontractor will be explained hereunder. All formal minutes of meeting shall be prepared by the Main Contractor and signed by concerned personnel after the meeting. All Minutes of Meeting shall be signed 'as agreed' by both the Main Contractor and the Subcontractor. The Owner may join these meetings with the prior notice from the Main Contractor. 1. The meeting shall be scheduled after submission of the Quality Plans by the Subcontractor. 3. On-the-spot meeting This meeting shall be scheduled immediately between the Main Contractor and the Subcontractor wherein the urgency and significance of a construction issues found at site is required necessary to call the attention of the Subcontractor immediately. A speed memo, specifying the issues to be discussed and the attendees required, shall be issued to the Subcontractor an hour prior to the scheduled meeting within the day.
