Pre-Installation Activities of  Plumbing Fixtures

•  Ensure that all relevant documents have been approved by OWNER prior to installation, and that the latest revisions of IFC drawings, specifications including, approved procedures are disseminated to concerned personnel who will carry out the work.

•  Plumbing fixtures and equipment shall be installed in strict conformance with their manufacturer’s printed instruction & recommendations for installing products. Installation will not proceed unless these instructions and recommendations have been provided or unless approval has been given by OWNER.

•  Ensure that the walls and floors for wall-mounted and floor mounted fixtures had been completed prior to installation. 

•  Check and verify the location and orientation of the fixtures on IFC isometrics / plan drawings. Establish good reference points for proper alignment.

Handling & Cleaning

•  Clean project site and work areas daily, including common areas. Co-ordinate progress cleaning for joint-use areas where more than one installer has worked. Enforce requirements strictly. Dispose of materials lawfully.

• Keep installed work clean. Clean installed surfaces according to written instructions of manufacturer. If specific cleaning materials are not recommended, use cleaning materials that are not hazardous to health or property and that will not damage exposed surfaces. 

•  During handling and installation, clean and protect construction in progress and adjoining materials already in place. Apply protective covering where required to ensure protection from damage or deterioration at project completion. 

Installation Activities of  Plumbing Fixtures

•  Fixtures should be handled properly to avoid damage during installation.

•  Fixtures shall be set level and in proper alignment with respect to walls and floors, and with fixtures equally spaced. Positioning of equipment & fixtures will be in accordance with project drawings and plumbing standard detail drawing nos. 20-DD-0002 to 0004.

•  Supplies lines shall be in proper alignment with fixtures and with each other.

•  Flush valves shall be installed in alignment with the fixtures, without vertical or horizontal offsets.

•  All wall-mounted and floor mounted fixtures shall be grouted watertight where the fixtures are in contact with walls and floors.

•  Deck-mounted trim shall be caulked at the time of assembly, including fixture and casework-mounted. Self-rimming sinks installed in casework shall be caulked. One part mildew resistant white silicone caulking compound shall be used.

•  Upon completion of installation, submit request for inspection to OWNER for approval and acceptance.

•  Upon completion and acceptance of inspection by OWNER clean and provide maintenance as frequently as necessary through the remainder of the construction period.
•  Even if the plumbing fixtures are inspected / accepted, the system shall not be used until sanitary drainage systems are ready. “ Not in service “ tag will be hooked on the fixture.
